Brachial plexus disorders (aka Parsonage Turner syndrome) are a rare group of progressive disorders that affect the nerves of the brachial plexus. This disorder can cause sudden, severe shoulder and upper arm pain and progresses from pain to weakness, muscle loss and loss of sensation.
Neuropathic (nerve) pain is common in those with brachial plexus disorders. Although there aren’t many long-term, large-scale human trials, the few placebo-controlled studies we have prove promising, with improvements in sleep and a reduction in pain.
