Testicular cancer is a cancer that affects the male sex organ, the testicles. It is not a common cancer, typically affecting men between the ages of 15 and 49 years old. Testicular cancer is, however, the most common cancer in those aged between 15 and 35 in the US. Typical signs include a lump or enlargement in either or both testicles, pain or discomfort in the testicle or scrotum, and a sudden collection of fluid inside the scrotum. Thankfully, testicular cancer has a relatively high 5-year survival rate of 95%.
There are some studies that show an association between heavy consumption of cannabis via smoking and the development of testicular cancer. Similar findings were found in a US study. Cannabinoids may be useful for many types of cancer, and perhaps less useful for other cancer types.
However, this does not mean that careful use of the right cannabinoids in the right dosage and delivery method aren’t potentially useful for treating testicular cancer. The studies also generally had a low sample size, and the studies do not show a definitive link between cannabis use and the development of testicular cancer.
