Cannabis for Cocaine Dependence
There is not a lot of research on the use of cannabis for treating cocaine dependence. What little there is is anecdotal and mostly inconclusive. Some studies show that using cannabis may decrease cocaine use, whereas others show no change or even an increase. There is some evidence that cannabis may help reduce the use of other types of stimulant, but whether this applies to cocaine as well is yet to be seen.
With this being said, the terpene-cannabinoid beta-caryophyllene seems to work particularly well in treating addiction of many kinds, including alcohol, stimulants and cocaine. CB2 receptors look to be linked to reward centers in the brain, and targeting this receptor could be key to battling addiction to many commonly abused drugs.
